Why Herb School?

Simply because I love herbs.

Nothing calms me like my tea and essentials oils. I actually think that when I think about tea leaves my blood pressure goes down. And whenever I buy a new essential oil, I automatically smile. None of this is new. I've been like this for years. I've bought the Young Living Oils. I've gone to the specialty tea shops. I grow herbs. I sniff herbs. I can't help myself.

If you Google, you will find tons of herbalist courses out there. I don't know anything about any of them.  I just felt at home on the Heart of Herbs website and went with my gut. The teacher is extremely passionate and to me that's a very big deal. I want to learn from someone who is excited about her craft.

I'm almost 20 percent done with the course, and I have no regrets on my choice of school.

I have already learned so much from the course but that's not even the best thing about it. The best thing is that the course makes you hungry for more. It has led me to places I never thought much about. Making my own skin care, my own incense, my own medicines, etc... And it's made me stand back and say damn, plants are friggin amazing. They do not get the credit they deserve. They seriously have superpowers (picture Basil wearing Superman's cape).

I guess the point of this post is to say if you love herbs, keep learning. Do your research. Go to the Library. Google till your eyes fall out. You don't need a certificate. I've learned that education isn't about certifications. Certifications are created so you can prove to others that you know what you are doing. There is nothing wrong with that.  But, how about we start concentrating a little more about what we need to prove to ourselves?

This is for me.

P.S. I'm a horrible speller and I type like I talk. No technical writer here. Tom, if you're reading this stop correcting me!
